Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is currently looking for a motivated and talented Intern in Hot Section Durability to join its team in support of commercial, military and industrial gas turbine engines. In this role, the Intern will get exposure to and learn the technical assessments and analyses necessary to support the design, development, validation, production implementation and management of advanced and operational engines flying across the globe. The Intern will have the opportunity to work with the various hardware, components and systems that HSE owns including turbine airfoils and combustors with particular focus on advanced cooling designs, aerodynamics, heat transfer, coatings and manufacturing. In this role, the Intern will be an integral member of the hot section durability team, working tasks and challenging problems focused on engine durability, capability, robustness, affordability and safety. The Intern will contribute as part of small teams with mentoring and coaching from experts and senior engineers in the field. It is an exciting time at Pratt & Whitney! Experience/Qualifications A solid academic record from a reputable institution including course work, grade point average and leadership is required. A candidate for this position should have an interest in the aerospace industry. Understanding and course work in aerodynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, mathematics, computational modeling, coatings, aerospace materials, manufacturing and other topics related to hot section durability will benefit the candidate. Good communication skills are essential. Education Certification Enrollment in a B.S. degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other applied engineering undergraduate curriculum is the minimum requirement for this position. Candidates in their freshman, sophomore and junior years of an undergraduate program are encouraged to apply. Students in graduate programs are also eligible. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better.
